UPDATE (3/1/2021) – UCSD appears to have abandoned the early call campaign after 2017. Currently the UCSD Alumni Association has a volunteer opportunity for “Admissions Calling Campaign” that is scheduled to occur in April (after the admission decisions have been released).
The Early Calling Campaign has become a tradition at UCSD (I believe this will be the ninth year) and targets Regents Scholars, Chancellor’s Associates Scholars, historically underrepresented students, and top admits based on their academic profile.
You may get the call in the evening from a current UCSD staff or faculty member (858 area code). There is no need to be alarmed if you miss the call (someone will call back; missing the calls will not affect your admission offer). If you do not receive a call during the Early Calling Campaign, you may receive a call later, after admission decisions are released, from current UCSD students to invite you to Triton Day and campus overnight programs, or later still from UCSD alumni to share their Triton experiences.
