UCSD Early Calling Campaign

UPDATE (3/1/2021) – UCSD appears to have abandoned the early call campaign after 2017.

The Early Calling Campaign has become a tradition at UCSD (I believe this will be the ninth year) and targets Regents Scholars, Chancellor’s Associates Scholars, historically underrepresented students, and top admits based on their academic profile.

You may get the call in the evening from a current UCSD staff or faculty member (858 area code). There is no need to be alarmed if you miss the call (someone will call back; missing the calls will not affect your admission offer). If you do not receive a call during the Early Calling Campaign, you may receive a call later, after admission decisions are released, from current UCSD students to invite you to Triton Day and campus overnight programs, or later still from UCSD alumni to share their Triton experiences.

Hello, I am a transfer student. A colleague also transfer student received an acceptance in her portal on March 10 and my decision is still pending, should I draw any conclusion or concern?

Based on what I heard so far, students who applied to non-capped majors are hearing back (although most, apparently, have very high GPA). Not sure if that helps.

Ms.Sun it says online that freshman decisions are coming out March 17 not March 10.

Can you define “online”? Did you see the date in your UCSD applicant portal or did you Google “ucsd decision date”? Because the Google result is for 2016 (last year) and I haven’t heard from anyone about seeing a definitive date in their applicant portal.

If I received a call but I missed it, does it mean that I got accepted?

Congratulations! Someone will probably try to call you again. No need to worry if you miss the call again. Decisions will be released online soon.

I looked at my call history and it turns out they called me yesterday also as well as today! Do you think they’ll call a third time tomorrow or did I miss it entirely? D:

I’m not sure if they will call you a third time. Don’t worry about it 🙂

I did not receive and email nor a call. Does this mean that I got rejected from ucsd?

If we got a call, when wil we know if we got a scholarship?

Not everyone who got a call received a scholarship. But if you did receive a scholarship, you should see it in your financial aid package.

Hi Ms.Sun
Is regent scholarship only for entering freshmen year students at ucsd? If it is not, how transfer students will be notified about being one of the regents scholars?

Thank you

According to this, you should find out about it when you get your admission decision.

Hi Ms. Sun! Do you know by when transfer students will know about regent scholarships, specifically at UCSD? When will decisions on that come in, any ideas?

This was brought up at the transfer conference today and I think you should hear soon (one of the UCs said next week, but I can’t remember if it was UCSD).
