Kudos on Surviving the UC Application Process!

Kudos to all of you for surviving the UC Application process! That is quite an achievement in itself! Below are some “loose ends” you want to tie up before going off to enjoy your winter vacation!

Review Payment Confirmation

The UC Application was apparently experiencing intermittent problems with the credit card payment processing service toward the end of November. Log back into your UC Application account and click on the “View Fees and Payments” link to verify that your payment was applied correctly.

Review UC Application for Errors

There were sporadic reports for couple years of a system glitch that scrambled some applicants’ Academic History section after application submission. Be sure to review your submitted UC Application by clicking on the “View Application” link after logging into your UC Application account, paying particular attention to the Academic History section. If you see any discrepancies between the submitted application and your original application, submit corrections by following in the instructions provided in my previous post. All corrections need to be submitted immediately.

Verify SAT/ACT/SAT Subject Test Score Delivery

You may verify whether the UC Application Center received your official test scores by logging back into your UC Application account and click on “Update ACT & SAT Tests” and/or “Update SAT Subject Tests” link(s). Check at least once by mid-December to allow enough time to order another score report if the original request did not go through for any reason.

Random Application Audit

Remember that the UC System conducts a random audit for a small sample of applicants each year. If you are chosen for an audit, you should receive notice between the end of December and early January to provide proof for one randomly selected extracurricular activity.

Apply to Scholarships

Continue searching and applying for scholarships (or begin if you have not already started):

Supplemental Applications

If you applied to a major that requires a supplemental application, your work is not done! Keep an eye on your email for the supplemental application instructions. I also have some resources here to help you get started (and information on how to figure out if your major requires a supplemental application if you are not sure)!

If the supplemental application deadline is in January, be sure to ask for any required recommendation letters BEFORE you go on winter vacation to allow your recommendation letter writers adequate time to compose the letters.

Give Thanks

Did a friend, a counselor, your parents, or someone you barely know give you advice or inspire courage when you were having doubts? Did a teacher squeeze you in for a recommendation letter even though he or she was completely swamped? Take a moment to thank those people for giving you the confidence to keep going.

With that in mind, I want to thank you for allowing me to be a part of your UC Application process and it was a pleasure to work with all of you, whether I have personally heard from you or not. I appreciate your dedication to academic excellence and I know that you will go on to do great things!

Once you had a chance to unwind, please leave some words of appreciation here so I may include a selection of them on my Testimonials page.

Help support this blog by making a contribution! Any amount is greatly appreciated!
