Because the general education requirements directly affect the number and the type of courses you have to complete at UCSD (and, to some extent, the flexibility you have to take other classes you may be interested in).

Keep in mind that you may not get your first (or second, or third) choice college at UCSD, so make sure you rank all six colleges in descending order of preference.

UCSD Transfer General Education Requirements

All six colleges require you to complete additional general education requirements after you transfer to UCSD. Below is a summary of the required coursework in addition to IGETC, plus the link to the general education policy for each college (in case you are not doing IGETC; some colleges also have information for students with “UC Reciprocity” or students transferring from colleges that do not have articulation or transfer agreements with the UCs).
