Remember the deadline for the UC Application is 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on November 30 (translation: this Friday night, just before midnight).
Before you submit the UC Application, review the Application Summary page thoroughly by clicking on “View Application” to see the application in its entirety; what you see there will look relatively similar to what the application readers see when they review your UC Application. Ask a parent, a guardian, a friend, or your counselor (or a teacher) to look through everything to catch errors you may have missed. Keep in mind that you cannot initiate the submission process until all status indicators (the green dots) are showing “completed” (filled).
In case you were wondering, the UC Application system will remain open after the deadline. Some massive natural disaster always seems to happen toward the end of November. As of now, students affected by California wildfires may request a 15-day extension by following the instructions here. Try to submit your application now, rather than waiting until the deadline.
If you already submitted the UC Application, log back in and review your submitted application to make sure there were no errors (for couple years, the system scrambled the Academic History section of some students). Contact the UC Application Center if your submitted application does not match the information you entered or if you catch any mistakes in the Academic History section: (800) 207-1710 (within U.S.) or (925) 298-6856 (outside U.S.), or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have follow-up questions after you submitted the UC Application, hold off until next week to contact me. I will also post something early next week that should address most of the post-submission questions.
Freshman applicants – If you are taking the December ACT with Writing and/or SAT with Essay test(s), make sure you log back into the UC Application and self-report the December score(s) once you receive it. Many UCs will review the application with self-reported scores (although you MUST send official score report for verification). Promptly self-reporting your December score(s) can expedite the processing and review of your application.
