UC Admission for International Students

Are you an international student looking for campus-specific admission information for the UCs? Below are links to the undergraduate admission information from the UC system and each of the nine campuses.

If you are an international student attending high school in the U.S., you must follow the general UC freshman admission requirements.

If you are an international student transferring from a California community college, consult Assist.org, your community college transfer center, AND your community college counseling office for general education and major preparation requirements. If you are NOT attending a California community college, find transfer requirements applicable to your situation.

Other Important Information

• International students whose school’s language of instruction is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency; find an explanation of the proficiency requirement, the required minimum test score, and score submission guideline here.
• The “external exams” results (such as IGCSE/GCSE/GCE exams, Year X/XII Board exams, SPM, etc.) should be reported in the “Test scores” section of the UC Application, under “International exams.” For freshman applicants, internal grades should be reported in the “Academic history” section of the UC Application.
• Obtain official, sealed transcripts from your school(s)/college(s) abroad early (must contain your complete academic record). UCs allow students to hand deliver or mail official, sealed transcripts in lieu of having the documents sent directly from the school(s)/college(s), which can sometimes take too long to arrive (by the July 1 deadline).
