The online company AdmitSee recruits verified college students (with a generous profit-sharing model) to share their successful application essays with prospective applicants (you pay a nominal fee to access each profile) and, just within the last year, AdmitSee has gathered 15,000+ college essays. Having all of of this data means AdmitSee can capture admission trends of individual colleges. Among the surprising findings, referring to your parents as “mother” and “father,” rather than “mom” and “dad,” seems more favorable to Harvard, while Cornell and UPenn seem to prefer students who talk about their career aspirations.
