what if, in your appeal, you talked about new academic achievements (since november)? how do you know that the new information can only be from before applying? when i called admissions they said i could discuss new academic achievements that I’ve received since applying..
You can talk about anything you want in your appeal. Whether the campus will consider what you said is a different issue. You may discuss recent achievements if they are significant (same for hardships). As a general rule I say no to achievements like getting straight A’s in senior year, getting CSF Life Member, winning a school award (for example, Spanish Language Award given to one student out of all students taking Spanish at your school). For the appeal to have merit, you must prove that you are significantly more competitive as an applicant. Since the admission evaluation period is sophomore and junior years, you want to focus on any reasons why you did not appear to be competitive during that period of time, as opposed to why you would be competitive outside of the evaluation period. Again, evidence outside of the evaluation period would be considered if it is significant and compelling. You should also keep in mind that what you think and what I think matters very little in this process; the campus will admit you if there is room and not admit you if there is no room.
