Kudos on Surviving the UC Application Process!

Kudos to all of you for surviving the UC Application process! That is quite an achievement in itself! Below are some “loose ends” you want to tie up before you relax and enjoy your winter break!

Check the UC Application for Errors

There were sporadic reports for couple years of a system glitch that scrambled some applicants’ “Academic history” section after application submission. Be sure to review your submitted UC Application by clicking on the “View application” link after logging into your UC Application, paying particular attention to the “Academic history” section. If you see significant discrepancies between the submitted application and your original application, contact the UC Application Center immediately (within the UC Application, click on “Help” and scroll to the bottom of the panel that opens to find the contact information).

Review the Payment Confirmation

The UC Application seems to experience intermittent issues with the credit card payment processing service. Log back into your UC Application and click on the “View fees & payments” link to verify that your payment was applied correctly.

Application Verification

Remember that the UC system conducts application verification for a randomly selected pool of applicants each year. If you are selected for verification, you should receive notice toward the end of December to provide proof for “one item from academic history, honors and awards, extracurricular activities, volunteer work and community service, special program participation, employment, or information contained in the personal insight responses.” Learn more about the UC Application verification process.

Supplemental Applications

If you applied to a major that requires a supplemental application, your work is not done! Keep an eye on your email for the supplemental application instructions or check out the supplemental application resources I posted to help you get started (including information on how to figure out if your major requires a supplemental application if you are not sure).

Give Thanks

Did a friend, a counselor, your parents, or someone you barely know give you advice or inspire courage when you were having doubts? Did a teacher squeeze you in for a recommendation letter even though he or she was completely swamped? Take a moment to thank those people for giving you the support you need to keep going.

With that in mind, I want to thank you for allowing me to be a part of your UC Application process and it was a pleasure to work with all of you, whether I have personally heard from you or not. I appreciate your dedication to academic excellence and perseverance despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, and I know that you will go on to do great things!

If I was able to offer you advice or support during the UC Application process, please leave some words of appreciation in the comments below so I may include a selection of them on my Testimonials page.
