Freshman Waitlist/Appeal Numbers

Most UCs reported freshman waitlist and appeal numbers at the UC Counselor Conference (you can dig through campus update presentation to find them).

If you prefer to have the information handed to you on a platter, you can get a neatly assembled deck (PDF) from me for just $18 (Fall 2022 and Fall 2023 FRESHMAN waitlist and/or appeal numbers for most UCs, including Berkeley and UCLA) here (remain on the payment page after you pay and you will be redirected to the PDF – please note, purchase of a digital product is NONREFUNDABLE). The complete deck is included with the Freshman Appeal DIY Kit ($99) and the UCLA waitlist numbers are included with the UCLA Freshman Waitlist Statement Guideline ($49) if you plan to get either of those.

Can you comment on what it means when the admitted number is sometimes 2-4 times the expected enrollment? For example Berkley admitted 14,772 and approx enrollment was 6700. It’s a little confusing? Freshman class is more than 6700? Or is it really 6700 and less than half admitted actually enrolled in fall?

Yield rate (percentage of admitted students choosing to enroll) hovers around 45%-50% for Berkeley and UCLA. The rest of the UCs generally have yield rates below 25%.
