Applicant’s Remorse
Discovered errors after you submitted your UC Application? Be careful of the conflicting information the UCs are giving out on how to update/correct the application. Below is what I know and I’ve noted any conflicts I observed.
You may log back into the application and update/correct the following information:
- Personal information
- Release authorization
- AP, IB, and international exams/scores
- Add a campus (if available)
- Freshman applicants – ACT, SAT, SAT Subject, TOEFL, and IELTS tests/scores
You may also:
- Pay for your application online
- Review your submitted application
- Check your application status (to find out if your UC Application has been forwarded to the individual UC campuses; freshman applicants – find out if you are ELC)
- Transfer applicants – update your application in January
For all other corrections, such as for the “Academic history,” “Activities & awards,” and/or the “Personal insight” sections, you must submit those AFTER you have set up an applicant account with each UC campus (this is the information given out by the UC Application Center; some UCs still have “applicant FAQs” that say you need to send corrections to the UC Application Center).
Also keep in mind that:
Freshman applicants are expected to report schedule/grade errors in 9th through 11th grades, 12th grade school/schedule changes, and/or non-passing (D or F) grades in 12th grade courses to each UC campus through the applicant account.
Transfer applicants should use the Transfer Academic Update to make changes to Fall schedule/grades and/or Winter/Spring schedule in January. Errors in previous terms must be reported to each UC campus through the applicant account.

SAT scores?
ACT, SAT, and SAT Subject Test scores can still be used to waive out of certain A-G requirements (see here). ACT and SAT scores can still be used to waive out of the UC English placement exam (known as AWPE); if you have a test score that satisfies the waiver, noting it in the UC Application will ensure you don’t get asked to take the AWPE (costs $110). You can find the required test scores and other methods to waive out of the AWPE here.
I entered wrong DOB and submitted applications. I logged in again and correct it. Will this correction be effective?
Did you do this before or after the applications were forwarded? There is a possibility that the information falls through the cracks if you corrected it after the application was already forwarded to the campuses. I would suggest that you double check in your applicant portal at each campus to verify the information is correct.
I entered the wrong information for California residency and my application has been forwarded to the campuses. Will this affect their decision on my admission? Would I be able to fix this?
Go ahead and correct the information on the UC App and double check your applicant portal at each campus.
For my UC application, I was not sure what the entry-level writing requirement was so I put yes. I realized I should have said no… Can this be changed and will this in any way negatively affect my application?
If you are a transfer applicant and you did not (or are not planning to) complete the entry-level writing requirement, then you are ineligible to transfer.
Today (January 2nd) when I was reviewing my UC application I realized that I forgot to include my senior year English class. I know this is an A-G requirement issue. I contacted each of the campuses I applied to. Do you think my admissions chances will be hurt?
As long as you notify each UC campus of the error and provide the correct information, you should be ok.
While I was reviewing my UC app, I found that I marked my senior year english class as IP in first semester while it is second semester class. Also, I found that I marked my honor chemistry class as HL while Im not the instate student. I got accepted from some UC campus. Is there possibilities that they will rescind my app? Is it too late to email them for correction?
The issues you mentioned are not serious enough for UCs to cancel your admission offer. You may want to send corrections through your applicant portal for the UCs that have admitted you just for peace of mind, but I wouldn’t stress out about them.
I have accidently listed in my junior year “Symphonic Band” for first and second semester, when I only took in my second semester (I reported the same grade for both semesters). I have already contacted admissions. Will this get my rescinded?
Not likely but you should report the correction.
Hello I just noticed that I submitted the wrong grade on my application. In the 11th grade, 2020-2021 academic year, I took AP Calculus AB, and marked the my semester 1 and 2 grades as an A rather than a B. I was wondering if this would affect my admission? Last fall, I took Calc I (the equivalent of AP Calc AB) at Community College and earned an A in the course.
You need to report corrections to the UCs that have admitted you. Whether the correction affects your admission offer is up to the campus. But you are better off reporting it now; UCs tend to be less forgiving during transcript evaluation and if you get your admission offer canceled in July or August, you are stuck with nowhere to go at that point.
Hi! I’m taking Link Crew this year, which is both a club and class at my school. I mentioned my leadership position on the activities section of my application but didn’t list it as a course since I thought it didn’t count for A-G. However, turns out it does count for the “G” requirement so I reported the change on my app portal since it’ll be on my transcript. I fulfilled my A-G requirements without it though. I got an “A” last semester and will get one this semester too, so is this mistake significant enough to get rescinded?
No. The error is in your favor (adds A-G count) so the UCs are not going to cancel admission offers for that (cancelation generally happens when the error is to your disadvantage, such as a lower grade or fewer classes than reported).
I entered my grade wrong as a transfer student and noticed after my acceptance, and have already contacted the admissions about it. I put a “A” instead of “B” for my math class and a “B” instead of “B+” for a calc class. I’m a part of their tag program and my gpa is well above their tag requirements even with the mistake. Will I get rescinded?
If the errors do not affect your TAG eligibility, then you should be ok.
For my senior year, I accidentally marked my Ethnic Studies course (1 semester) as In Progress for semester 1, then Planned for Semester 2. I am changing this now on my portal, but I am wondering if this is something that I may get rescinded for. I am changing the second semester to NE (Not Enrolled)?
You should be ok.
When I tried to input the location I attended for summer school on my application, I entered a different one because the one I actually attended wasn’t on there when I searched it up on it. Both of the schools have the same name and are part of the same organization but they are separate locations. The checklist for the school I plan to attend is asking me to request a transcript from the school I put on my application (not that one I actually attended). Since it looks like I accidentally put the wrong school, would my acceptance get revoked?
You should be ok. I’m inclined to say you should just send the official transcript and wait to see if the UC campus says anything (I kind of feel like you can fly under the radar on this; also, if it’s the school I think, my guess is the school probably does something to the transcript to deal with the multiple location thing).
When inputting grades for my college transcript, I accidentally indicated I had all As for every semester, when in fact I had 2 Bs in semesters for my dual enrollment classes. These grades do not impact my high school GPA, but rather have only impacted the grades I earned in semesters of my college classes that can transfer as dual enrollment credits. I ended all of these classes with As as final grades, and additionally did not have access to my college transcript prior to submitting my application, and thus had no idea what my individual semester grades were. As a result, I was instructed to place As for each semster on my college transcript. It was an honest mistake that I made. Do you think that I will get rescinded?
Contact the UC campus and provide that explanation.
