UC Transfer Academic Update

From Transfer academic update (retrieved on 1/3/2024):

After applying, transfer students are required to update their grades and course records.

You must provide your final grades from the previous term and list all courses in progress or planned for all terms before you expect to enroll. Your updates will ensure UC campuses have the most current academic information available. Even if you do not have any in-progress or planned courses and your record of course grades was complete in your original application, you must log in to your application and complete the Transfer Academic Update.

Fall 2024

TAUs need to include grades through fall 2023 and planned coursework through summer 2024. The priority deadline is January 31, 2024.

Notes:

  • The Transfer Academic Update is available online now.
  • ALL transfer applicants (sophomore, junior, and senior transfers) MUST complete the update at least once before the priority deadline (if no coursework completed for Fall 2023 or planned for Winter/Spring 2024, confirm there is no coursework and submit the update).
  • The Transfer Academic Update will remain open after the priority deadline and transfer applicants may continue using it to submit grades/schedule updates until the end of March.
  • Remember that UC campuses may hold you accountable for planned summer courses (and cancel your admission offer when you don’t come through). Do NOT put down summer courses unless you know for sure that: 1) the courses will actually be offered and 2) you are fully committed to completing the courses.
  • Berkeley requires an additional update which can be accessed through MAP@Berkeley. Berkeley transfer applicants MUST complete BOTH the Transfer Academic Update and the Berkeley update in order to be considered for admission.

What is the correct notation if we don’t have a grade yet? I have one class that still doesn’t have an official grade submitted and I’m worried it may not get submitted until after the TAU deadline.

Assuming it’s not an “IN” (incomplete), put “IP” (in-progress) if there is no official grade by the TAU deadline. Report the official grade in TAU as soon as you receive it (TAU will remain open until the end of March).

I’m not able to leave it as IP but I do have the option to put STLIP (still in progress), would that be fine?

Ok, do that. Just make sure you go back and update the grade when you get it.

Hi Ms.Sun what should I be doing in the case of an IN or incomplete. Out of the four classes I have two incompletes due to a documented circumstance. I am retake my one class and will recieve the grade for the incomplete in March and the other one I will just need to do the final and will recieve the grade in March. I am on a quarter system. Also as a side these two classes are not major pre req classes. I only applied to Berkeley.

Put “IN” (incomplete) for the two courses and provide an explanation in “Additional comments” (what you said will work fine). Make sure to go back and update the grades by the end of March.

Is the Berkeley Supplemental form suppose to be for every applicant or major dependent. I applied under CDSS and have yet to receive the form even though I thought it was suppose to release by January 5th.

Log into MAP@Berkeley and look under “forms.” There is an explanation for what you need to do here under “2. Complete forms on two websites.”

I don’t see anything about a form on MAP@Berkeley. I also never gotten an email informing me to fill out a form. Is this something I should be concern about and ask Berkeley admissions about or is it normal to not receive a form based on your major?

There is a “General Education/Breadth” form required for transfer applicants for CDSS majors.

I cant find the TAU on the application page, it just says things like view application, update SAT or ACT exams, update international exams, etc.

It sounds like you applied as a freshman applicant. Only transfer applicants have access to the TAU.

Hi Ms. Sun, as I am applying for Data Science and as Data Structure is a *highly recommended* class by the college, I wasn’t taking it first as it wasn’t available. I put other classes in my TAU but as it is now being offered in the Spring Quarter, I was planning to update the Transfer Admission Planner with me taking Data Structure, would that be a good reason to update it?

You should update your TAU before the end of March and maybe say something in Additional Comments that you just learned the course is being offered and will enroll. This could potentially sway the admission decision for the campuses where the course is recommended.

Hi Ms. Sun, thank you for your reply! I was also wondering if I should mention that I am doing this class online as I am not in campus for Spring 2024 quarter.

You don’t need to specifically mention that it’s online. I sent you an email about the other question you asked (I don’t want that information to float around online).
